About Caritas Cambodia
Caritas Cambodia is an official social development arm of the Catholic Church in Cambodia. It has been built on the values of Love, Concern, Justice, Peace Unity, Sharing and brotherhood. Caritas Cambodia and Caritas Asia was organized the Asia Regional Capacity Building on Emergency Response/Disaster Risk Reduction/Community Based Disaster Preparedness and Climate Change Adaptation forum in Town View Hotel, Phnom Penh. The forum was held in three days on 18-20 September 2014.

The purpose of the forum is to further enhance the capacity of Caritas Member Organizations in Asia in the field of responding to emergency response, disaster risk reduction, community based disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation and implementing disasters programs. By way of beefing up interchange and mutual aid among the MOs for the promotion and harmonization of their works, and by equipping them with technical tools and theoretical foundations for the enhancement of the skills and abilities of their workforce, including the directors and staff members.

Because of disasters affected and destroyed to livelihood, human life, ecological in the countries which is interrupted to the economics and incomes they could not recover and needed assistance from government, UN agency and non government organizations agencies to support in term of emergencies, disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation to strengthen and build the capacity to the vulnerable groups.

To organize skills on emergency response, disaster risk reduction, Community Based Disaster Preparedness and climate change adaptation programs and other related capacity-building services and theoretical trainings/workshops and forums, in order to develop capacities and competencies among the workforce of the Member Organizations in Asia

 

To ensure that interventions and approaches of emergency response, disaster risk reduction, community disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation in the Regional Secretariat and the Member Organizations remain appropriate and relevant to responding to disasters.

To maintain collaborate working relations with relevant offices of other CI member organizations and partner agencies that are present in the region, as well as with other like-minded organizations and allied non-Church organizations/ networks, UN agency, civil society organizations and private sectors on emergency response, disaster risk reduction, community based disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation

The participants was share experiences and good practices in emergency response, disaster risk reduction, community based disaster preparedness and climate change during the workshopThe participants has gain experiences and knowledge sharing from the field visit of Caritas Cambodia and will implement in Caritas MOs in emergency response, disaster risk reduction, community based disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation.
