About Caritas Cambodia
Caritas Cambodia is an official social development arm of the Catholic Church in Cambodia. It has been built on the values of Love, Concern, Justice, Peace Unity, Sharing and brotherhood. Caritas Cambodia organized a training of trainer (TOT) under the theme “Disaster Risk Reduction and climate change Adaptation” on August, 19-21 2013 at the Caritas Cambodia national office to provide understanding on:

  • Strengthening expertise by means of community-based disaster preparedness and the reduction disaster risks
  • Developing informational materials on topics of disaster management
  • Developing early warning systems and information technology for use in disaster management
  • Introducing and strengthening coordination and cooperation with government institutions at all levels as well as with civil societies
  • Supporting measures for the development and implementation of the national emergency plan.

19 participants included 5 females attended the training. These amounts included Program Manager, Project Manager, team Leader, livelihood officer, CD Worker and regional staff who involved with BMZ project were from 7 province of Caritas Cambodia. We hope will have a good effect in terms of building capacities of relevant stakeholders as well as raising awareness on Disaster Risk Reduction/Climate Change adaptation. After the three-day training the trainees are capable in:

  • Effective way to apply DRR/CCA to community - Effective facilitator on DRR/CCA
  • Get knowledge to apply BMZ Project
  • Understand of methods to be a trainer on DRR/CCA
  • Have enough knowledge on DRR/CCA

Related to the TOT above, on Sept, 10-14 2013 Caritas Cambodia, Caritas Pakistan and NCDM will conduct again on "Search and Rescue" at Kompong Thom regional office. The participant a round 30 people.
