Sample Houses Inauguration and Construction Site Opening Ceremony in Kampong Thom Province

“Caritas Cambodia planned to build 41 new houses in Kampong Thom province and other 4 houses in Kampong Cham province for the people affected by Ketsana on September 29, 2009,” said Mr. Kim Rattana, Executive Director of Caritas Cambodia, in the Sample Houses Inauguration and Construction Site Opening ceremony on January 24, 2011 in Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom province.

This special ceremony was presided over by H.E. Nhim Vannda , Senior Mininster, First Vice President of NCDM and Kampong Thom provincial governor H.E. Chhon Chhoin. Moreover, hundreds of people and some other government officials in Kampong Svay district also attended this big ceremony.Mr. Rattana said, “Caritas Cambodia expects that Ketsana victims in Kampong Thom province will be happy to get the 41 new houses and other 68 repairing houses that will be completed before the Khmer New Year in April.”


 

These new wooden houses, size 6 meters by 6,5 meters, will be roofed over with Fibro and cement foundation and pillar.Those victims are very delighted that Caritas Cambodia helped them a lot by providing humanitarian assistance and training course regarding the Disaster Risk Reduction.The estimated budget for this new plan is 794,606 U.S. dollars and 400,000 U.S. dollars will be spent for Kampong Thom province.

Moreover, the new plan of Caritas Cambodia to help those affected people by continue restoring everything destroyed by Ketsana will be implemented in 7 provinces include Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Preah Vihear, Kandal, Siem Reap, Mondulkiri and Battambong.

H.E. Nhim Vannda and H.E. Chhon Chhoin appreciated very much for what Caritas Cambodia has done so far to help Cambodian people that suffered from the disaster.
